The Economic Value of Blockchain is “10 Times More Than That of the Internet.” – China State TV

The principal Chinese broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV), expressed that the economic value of blockchain is “10 times more than that of the Internet, reported Coindesk on June 4.

On Sunday night, the station’s Finance Channel aired a segment named “Dialogue” for the first time in which CCTV’s host, Chen Weihong, discussed for an hour with other participants to educate its wide audience-base on the concept, potential and risks of blockchain technology.

Important members of the blockchain space were also present and participate in the discussion, such as Don Tapscott, the author of the well-known book “Blockchain Revolution.”

Other important figures of the blockchain community that spoke during include Zhang Shoucheng, a physics professor at Stanford University and founder of Danhua Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in blockchain technology, and the CEO of cloud network giant Xunlei, Chen Weihong.

Zhang explained the value of the blockchain technology to the large audience by saying,

“While the real value of the internet is aggregating individual pieces of information into one place, which is exactly what Google and Facebook does, we are now entering an era where information is being decentralized so that individuals can own their individual data. And that’s the real value of blockchain that makes it exciting.”
