GMO Internet Group, a Japanese giant technology firm launches a mobile app allowing its users to earn bitcoin by playing games, according to a press release published on May 31.

This new project called “CryptoChips” will be available in August 2018 for users and will be integrated with a “real-time territorial battle game ‘Whimsical War,'” in which players will receive bitcoin depending on their ranking and when they achieved a mission.

Each player must have its own cryptocurrency wallet to get its reward and the firm expressed that the mobile platform will initially only support bitcoin.

The firm also plans to integrate CryptoChips to other games in the future and get theĀ “competitors’ game titles on board.”

One goal of this project is to help gamers to get more familiar with cryptocurrencies.

In 2017, GMO launched its own bitcoin mining operations and plans to launch its cloud mining service near August 2018.
