Reddit has allegedly removed the option to pay with Bitcoin for their Reddit gold (premium membership) program, according to Cointelegraph.
A reddit post in /r/btc by redditor BitcoinXio includes a video that shows that the only two options to buy gold are Paypal and credit cards, while a Bitcoin option was available a few days ago.
Redditor emoney40, moderator of a multitude of subreddits commented on the post:
“The upcoming Coinbase change, combined with some bugs around the Bitcoin payment option that were affecting purchases for certain users, led us to remove Bitcoin as a payment option.”
User emoney40 added,
“We’re going to take a look at demand and watch the progression of Coinbase Commerce before making a decision on whether to reenable.”
Coinbase said that they knew the change “may be disruptive to Coinbase Merchant Tool customers.”
The Coinbase merchant tools will be made unavailable on April 30 and the limit to make the switch to the new Coinbase commerce is May 31.
